Joint Nordic support for Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)

On behalf of Norway, Norwegian Centre for Research Data, NSD has signed an agreement with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The agreement is ensuring collaboration between the ongoing project to create a common Nordic registry of authorized publication channels - the Nordic List and DOAJ. DOAJ is a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. The directory was launched in 2003 at Lund University in Sweden. The Nordic List will support DOAJ with 20.000 GBP per year. In return for the sponsorship, the Nordic List will use DOAJ as an authoritative source on open access journals and receive additional information on open access journals.

The group has been working together since 2013 to create a common Nordic registry of authorized research publication channels, referred to as the Nordic List. The list is based on information from the national lists of Denmark (Autoritetslister for serier og forlag), Finland (Julkaisufoorumi) and Norway (Register over vitenskapelige publiseringskanaler). In 2015, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands joined the group as observers, NordForsk and the chairmanship in The Nordic ministry council supports the registry.
