Login to commentEstetika is a globally recognized journal in its field, indexed in well-known databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, PhilPapers, and ERIH Plus. In 2022, the journal’s articles were downloaded and viewed over 15,000 times worldwide. In the same year, Estetika received 69 submissions, and had an acceptance rate of 22%. The journal also received the 2022 Article of the Year Award in Aesthetics by the Finnish Society for Aesthetics. The journal has a versatile editorial team including researchers representing academic communities in Czechia, Finland, Hungary, UK, and Poland. The editorial and advisory boards include such top academics in the field as Eileen John, Elisabeth Schellekens, Diarmuid Costello, and Dominic McIver Lopes.
The journal's Scopus citescore is 0.7, indicating its strong performance in comparison to other aesthetics journals listed at level 1. The British Journal of Aesthetics (BJA) holds the distinction of being the only aesthetics journal currently listed at level 2 in the Philosophy category. While BJA certainly deserves its status, it's worth noting that Estetika's citation metrics strongly suggest that it too merits a position at the same level. The journal's citescore also surpasses the 0.5 citescore of the Journal of Aesthetic Education, which is categorized as a level 2 journal in the Education category.
For the above-mentioned reasons, we propose that Estetika’s rating is raised from level 1 to level 2.
