The National Board of Scholarly Publishing has reviewed the Norwegian Register
At the meeting of the National Board of Scholarly Publishing 3. December 2021, the National Board decided to do a major review among the already approved journals in the Norwegian Register. We effectuated the results of the review 1. August 2023.

Criteria for reconsideration
We collected journal lists for each scientific field. The lists contained journals that had not received publications from Norwegian scholars the last five years, and that were not indexed in Scopus, DOAJ or erih+.
Lists sent out to scientific panels
The scientific panels and the publishing committees had to decide if they wanted to keep the journals as approved publication channels, or if they wanted to downgrade the journals to zero - not approved.
In the cases where the scientific panels and/or the publishing committees did not respond, the National Board of Scholarly Publishing decided to degrade the journals to zero.
Five level 2-journals downgraded
The review mainly concerned approved journals at level 1, but five level 2-journals were also downgraded to zero:
- Ekstasis, ISSN 1865-8792
- Hebrew Language and Literature Series (HLLS), ISSN 1381-2564
- Studi italiani di filologia classica, ISSN 0039-2987/2239-639X
- Studies in Textile and Costume History, ISSN 0924-7696
- The Classical Review, ISSN 0009-840X/1464-3561
For the journals that were downgraded from level 1 to zero, you will find information about it at the journals' information page in the Norwegian Register. You can find all the journals in concern by choosing the date 01.08.23 at Assessed publication channels or download the following list:
Notice that the National Board of Scholarly Publishing are planning a review for the scientific fields under natural sciences and engineering later, as they were not included this time.
