Privacy Policy

The privacy notice explains how the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir) use and share the personal data you register on the website for the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers.

HK-dir is data controller and processor in terms of The Personal Data Act. The basis for the processing of personal data is The Personal Data Act, section 6 nr. 1 b), the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party.

Purpose

The Norwegian Register contains data on academic journals, series and publishers (publication channels). The main aim of the Norwegian Register is to give information about the publication channels to scholars.

Your data

When you create a user account in the Norwegian Register, we record your personal data for user details. By creating an account in the Norwegian Register, you give consent to that we can process and store your personal data. Just a few employees will have access to the stored data about you.

We record the following data:

  • Your name in full,
  • Your contact information (e-mail address and institution,
  • Your country of domicile.

The personal data is stored in a safe cloud store service in Norway.

The personal data can be used in statistics based on the information above. Information about country and institution on an aggregated level can be relevant for statistical purposes. No individual will be identifiable in the statistics.

Your personal data will be deleted from the backup systems after one year. When your user account has been inactive for five years, we will anonymize the personal data you provided and close your account.

The Norwegian Register shares your personal data with erih+. You can access erih+ by using your e-mail address and password for the Norwegian Register.

Your rights

Rights to rectification

You have the right to correct any inaccurate personal data held by us.

Rights to withdraw consent

You have the right to withdraw consent for the processing of your personal data.

Rights to restriction of processing

You have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data or object to the processing of your data. Please contact us if you wish to withdraw consent for the processing of your personal data or otherwise restrict or object to the processing of your personal data.

Rights to erasure

You have the right to have your personal data erased.

Rights to data portability

You have the right to access your personal data stored by us. You have the right to receive your personal data we hold, in a structured, commonly used format. This includes

  • a description of your personal data,
  • the recipients of your personal data and
  • a copy of your personal data.

You have the right to transmit your personal data to another controller without hindrance from us.

Rights to complain

You have the right to complain to The Norwegian Data Protection Authority (DPA) and our Data Protection Official if you are experiencing delinquency on accordance with the information above.
