Suggest publication channel for level 2
If you want to suggest a publication channel for level 2, you must use the comment function. You shall not use the application form for level 1. To be able to suggest a publication channel for level 2, it must first have level 1.
How to nominate a publication channel for level 2
To nominate a publication channel for level 2, you first need to log in to The Norwegian Register.
1. Look up the publication channel you want to nominate to level 2.
Go to the publication channel’s information page in The Norwegian Register.
2. Scroll down until you see “New Comment”.
Press “New Comment” and check off for “Professional comment”.
3. Write your arguments for why the publication channel should be upgraded to level 2.
When you press “Send comment”, the scientific panels will see your comment in NPI, which is their tool during the nomination process for level 2. Your comment will also be public.

When does the nomination for level 2 happen?
The nomination for level 2 starts in August. To be sure that your comment will be considered, you should therefore register your comment by the middle of August.
The different publishing committees within each scientific field, have the responsible for nominating to level 2. From August until October/November, dependent on when they have their nomination meeting, the scientific panels consider the publication channels within their scientific field and make a nomination proposal.
The nomination is then evaluated by the National Board of Scholarly Publishing at its meeting in the beginning of December.
When will level 2 apply?
Level 2 has a delay in two years. That means that the results from the current year’s nomination process for level 2, first will take effect in two years. The same applies if a publication channel is downgraded from level 2 to level 1.
You will in the level table for the publication channel see the level two years forwards in time if the publication channel has been approved for level 2 or decided to be put down from level 2 to level 1.
