Incorrect information about DOAJ status

We are experiencing problems retrieving information from DOAJ. As a result, we are currently unable to automatically update the Norwegian Register with data from DOAJ. The search may therefore display incorrect information regarding DOAJ status. We are working to resolve the issue.

Some updates before the summer

Before the summer holidays get fully under way, we would like to share some updates on what is happening in the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers.

Data from DOAJ

The Register normally retrieves data from DOAJ automatically. The search function and the information in the Register are updated every night with the latest information.

Because DOAJ has made some changes, we are currently unable to retrieve data automatically. We are in contact with DOAJ and are working to adapt our data retrieval to DOAJ’s new changes.

For the time being, we are retrieving information from DOAJ manually. Although we update the information manually every day, the search results may still not be fully up to date regarding DOAJ status.

You can search for journals and articles directly in DOAJ yourself.

Rewording of the level 1 criteria

We have received feedback that the text describing the criteria for level 1 has been somewhat unclear. We have therefore reworded the text for level 1. We have made it clearer which criteria must be met for publication channels to be approved, and which criteria should be met but will not necessarily lead to rejection if they are not. In other words, there are no new criteria; this is simply a rewording of the text.

The new version has been approved by the National Board of Scholarly Publishing, which has academic responsibility for the level 1 criteria.

Special thanks to the Norwegian Register’s Reference Group, which has provided valuable suggestions for improving the previous version and constructive feedback during the work on the new version.

Interested in the humanities and social sciences?

erih+, the European journal index owned by the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills, and UiT The Arctic University of Norway are members of the European research infrastructure OPERAS. Through erih+’s membership, the Norwegian Register also takes part in OPERAS activities.

OPERAS works to meet the needs of research communities in the humanities and social sciences. In Norway, erih+ and UiT The Arctic University of Norway have joined forces to establish a Norwegian OPERAS node, OPERAS Norway, to help coordinate and strengthen Norwegian research infrastructure and to connect Norwegian humanities and social sciences research with European research and infrastructure in these fields.

We have recently set up a mailing list that you can subscribe to, to receive information about activities and events in the humanities and social sciences community. We will share news from OPERAS and other relevant organisations. Subscribers to the mailing list are also welcome to share knowledge and information about activities in the humanities and social sciences community.

If you would like to subscribe to the mailing list, please send an email to operas-no@hkdir.no and we will add you. NB! The e-mails will mainly be written in Norwegian.

Please see OPERAS Norway for more information (only in Norwegian).

Holiday period

The Norwegian Register will soon be taking a holiday break. This means that fewer of us will be at work to respond to enquiries and resolve any issues that may arise. As a result, you may not receive a reply to your enquiry until August.

If your enquiry is urgent, please mark your email with high importance and send it to publiseringskanaler@hkdir.no. We will do our best to find someone who can help you as quickly as possible.

We wish you all a very pleasant summer!
