This journal requires high reproducibility standards and thus publishes science that can be verified and validated even post-publication. High-quality scientific methods/results were published in this journal and the acceptance rate is low (certainly not a mega journal that accepts 80% of the submissions). The journal impact factor of this journal is also better than many journals in level-2 in this particular field.

The bioscience publishing committee has decided not to propose any journals moved to level 2 this year. The background for this is that the Norwegian share of the world production is too high (over 28%). The national publishing committee has asked us to reduce this proportion. The professional body must therefore make a thorough assessment of its entire journal portfolio, also with regard to the fact that the journals within the field of biotechnology have now been merged with biology into life sciences.
