Quite surprising that Radiocarbon is judged Level 1. Considering reviewing procedures, impact etc. it should be Level 2. It represents one of the most important transdisciplinary journals linking istope physics with archaeology. Example: When providing samples from my archaeological work to the VERA-laboratory (isotope physics, Univ. Vienna) I have to "declare" to publish the results in Radiocarbon due to the ranking system of this university where it is top level. Can't believe that any neutral scientific board would not suggest Level 2, and should NSD judge Level 1, please explain. Please change to Level 2.

Radiocarbon is the most important journal worldwide for scientist working with radiocarbon dates and other radioisotopes and techniques. It is a crucial and highly influential journal for disciplines as e.g. archaeology, environmental and geosciences, oceanography, sedimentology etc. The impact factor in 2017 was 1.807, more as double as much as most level 2 listed journals for archaeology (e.g. Antiquity, Cambridge Archaeological Journal etc.). Radiocarbon belongs to the Cambridge core of the Cambridge University Press and the contributions undergo a highly qualitative peer review process.
Thus I would like to propose Radiocarbon as a level 2 journal.
