To whom it may concern,
I was going to ask the update the level of Memory Studies from level 1 to level 2, but I read that Nadim Khoury did already request it. The reason given by this colleague a year ago are still valid, and therefore I would like to strongly support his petition, and encourage NSD to seriously consider updating this international peer-reviewed journal. There is a serious need to include level 2 journals in the fields of heritage studies, museums, and the politics of memory, so scholars in these fields can publish their seminal works and get rated accordingly by the Norwegian Research Council.
Sincerely, Laia Colomer
To whom it may concern,

I am writing to ask the Norwegian Registry for Scientific journals to upgrade the level of Memory Studies from a level 1 to a level 2 journal. The reasons for this upgrade are the following:

1) Memory Studies has become the flagship journal of the field of memory studies. It works closely with the Memory Studies Association, which is the professional association for Memory Studies scholars, as well as those who are active in museums, memorial institutions, archives, the arts and other fields engaged in remembrance.

2) Over the years, the journal’s ranking and impact factor has been growing exponentially, scoring amidst some of the best journals in history and cultural studies (https://journals.sagepub.com/metrics/mss) with an impact factor of 2.713 (5-year impact).

3) The Norwegian Registry for Scientific Journals currently ranks History and Memory, another journal that specializes in memory studies, as a level 2 journal. While History and Memory is a good journal, it has a lower ranking and a lower impact factor than Memory Studies, which is ranked as a level 1.

For these reasons, I believe Memory Studies should be upgraded to a level 2 journal.
Thank you for considering my request,

Sincerely,
Nadim
