Tidsskriftet har nå en Impact Factor på 4.124 (2018) og er rangert blant topp 10 innen kommunikasjon. Det er derfor misvisende at tidsskriftet står som Nivå 1 i Norge.
I think this journal should be upgraded to level 2. It has consistently been ranked as a top journal in communication and information science in recent years (e.g., number 6 journal in "Social Sciences general" category on Google Scholar, with an h-5 index of 53), has had a steady increase of its impact factor (now being at 3.084), and publishes high impact and critical studies such as:

The journal also has an excellent editorial board with many leading experts in the sociology of the Internet, digital communication and information science (e.g., Manuel Castells, Sonia Livingstone, Lee Humphreys, Barry Wellman, Leah Lievrouw). Already in year 21, the journal has become a leading forum in the interdisciplinary field of Internet studies, on a similar level to New Media & Society.
