The journal is an international peer-reviewed open access. The journal publishes any field of studies that involve nanomaterials (NMs) with respect to their science to application from synthesis to use and from hazard identification to risk assessment. The number of published papers on this journal has increased significantly the last 5 years. The journal covers broadly the nanoscience. One of the most used journal in our field. Highly suggested to level 2.

There are no nominations to level 2 within Materials Science and Engineering this year (fall 2021), as well as within several other sub-areas of Natural Sciences and Engineering, due a re-organisation of the structure of the Scientific fields within this area. Nanomaterials is a good journal, but lifting it to level 2 implies that one or more journals already on level 2 needs to be down-graded to level 1. Level 2 journals is limited to 20% of the world production, and should be considered as a world-leading journal in it the field by the international research community. Number of publications and impact factor alone is not enough to label it a level 2 journal. It is not indexed in Denmark and level 1 in Finland. In any case Nanomaterials can be considered for level 2 first fall 2022.

This journal needs to be promoted to level 2.
