This relatively new journal has been rapidly gaining international recognition and prestige. The 2018 impact factor (2.165), based mainly on original research articles, is now higher than some other journals in Archaeology and Conservation that are considered level 2 and publish similar content in the subcategory of conservation science (e.g. Journal of Cultural Heritage, IF 1.955, and Studies in Conservation, IF 0.797), reflecting the relative importance of this journal. Heritage Science is also a fully Open Access journal, unlike J Cult Herit and Stud Conserv. Furthermore, the importance of this journal is clearly being recognised by researchers in Norway, with the number of contributions from various Norwegian groups increasing in the last few of years to be comparable to those in J Cult Herit and Stud Conserv (from 2016-2019: 6 articles in HS compared to 8 in JCH and SC, according to Cristin).

On these grounds, I suggest considering upgrading Heritage Science to level 2 ranking.
